Steaua Bucuresti and Pegasus Polichnis Thessaloniki started 2024/25 Challenge Cup with victories

2024/25 CEV Challenge Cup started today with first two games of Zonal Prequalification Round playee at DAK Polichnis “Alexandros Nikolaidis” in Thessaloniki, Greece.
In a game valid for Pool B, Steaua Bucuresti from Romania easily won against Serbia’s Radnicki Kragujevac struggling only in second part of second set when they suffered a comeback, even though they managed to close it with the minimum gap, 0-3 (18:25, 23:25, 16:25).
Straight sets win also in Pool A, with the hosts Pegasus Polichnis Thessaloniki who literally destroyed KV Peja from Kosovo with a clear 3-0 (25:15, 25:19, 25:14) after just 67 minutes of play, overpowering the rivals in all elements and making the difference in blocking (8 to 3), serving (9 aces to 2), attack (66% to 44%) and reception (69% positive and 38% perfect to 44% and 27%).
Interestingly, the only player in double digit of this game was Gazmend Husaj, with 13 points (48% in attack and 2 winning blocks), for the team from Kosovo.
Competition will continue tomorrow and on Saturday with Pool Stage, while finals are scheduled on Sunday.
