France: Montpellier and Nantes win men and women French Supercups 2024l

2 min read

In a prequel of 2024/25 French MARMARA Spike League, Montpellier (in final in place of French Cup winners Nantes, who will not compete in Ligue A this season after their financial struggles) defeated Champions of France Saint-Nazaire in a tie-break to win the Supercup in Nantes.
The intense five-set match saw Montpellier emerge victorious with the score of 3-2, partially 25:17, 34:36, 18:25, 25:17, 15:13,
marking their second Supercup triumph.
Despite Saint-Nazaire’s best efforts, including a remarkable comeback in the second and third sets, Montpellier rallied in the fourth set and kept their composure in the tie-break to secure the win on their first match point.

In the evening, Nantes claimed Women SuperCup, securing the title in just three sets (25:23, 25:23, 25:18). Unlike the men, who claimed the win in a tense five-set match, Nantes dominated.
Facing the reigning French champions Levallois, Nantes—last season’s cup winners and league runners-up—took revenge with a commanding performance. In front of their home fans, the Neptunes left no chance for the rivals, easily earning their first-ever Supercup title.
