The opening round of the 80th SuperLega Credem Banca Superlega CredemBanca 2024/25 started yesterday with the advance between Cucine Lube Civitanova and Sonepar Padova, and continued today with the other games.
Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza triumphed 3-1 in a fierce derby against Vals Group Modena, while Gioiella Prisma Taranto stunned Allianz Milano with a straight-set victory. Titleholders and Supercup
winners Sir Susa Vin Perugia dominated Rana Verona, and Itas Trentino secured a hard-fought 3-1 win over Cisterna Volley.
In a five-set clash, Mint Vero Volley Monza edged out newcomers Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina, who earned a very important point.
In details, Piacenza showcased their resistence, rallying from behind in the fourth set to secure a well-deserved 3-1 (25:18, 21:25, 25:23, 25:23) home victory.
MVP Yuri Romanò led the charge with 20 points to his name, while Tommaso Rinaldi’s 21 points for Modena weren’t enough to push the match until fifth set.
A thrilling Taranto defeat Milano in just three sets, led by Fabrizio Gironi MVP of the match with 15 points, contributing to an excellent team attack efficiency of 55%.
Straight sets win also for reigning champions Perugia, who started strong over Rana Verona, 3-0 (29:27, 25:22, 25:21).
In front of 3671 home fans, the players around head coach Angelo Lorenzetti made the difference with 13 winning blocks, 7 aces and 50% of team performance in attack, but good performance also in reception with 61% positive at the end of the match. MVP Kamil Semeniuk, who left the court with 14 points through 43% in attack and two winning blocks.
