France: Round 8 is over - 3 points for Tourcoing, Poitiers, Tours, Chaumont and Nice (who stun defending champions!)

With a great team performance in attack (66% to 43%), Hermans Egleskalns led the charge with 14 points including 2 aces, 2 blocks and 71% in attack, well supported by Antoine Pothron, who also contributed with 12. No players on the losing side reached a double digit.
Straight sets win also for Tourcoing, who won on the field of Toulouse without major problems with the score of 0-3 (21:25, 21:25, 20:25). The winners made the difference above all in blocking, with 11 points from this element (6 only from Michael Parkinson) compared to the rivals’ 6. Pablo Koukartsev led the charge with 16 points through 50% in attack and 2 aces.
Also the other two winners of the day earned three points.
Poitiers needed four sets to prevail over Paris, 3-1 (25:16, 22:25, 28:26, 26:24) after more than 2 hours of intense play, above all in third and fourth sets, both ended overtime. Five players left the court in double digit for the winners: top scorer Dusan Nikolic tallied 23 points including 2 winning blocks, 2 aces and 69% in attack, Thibaut Thoral and Tino Hanzic added 18 points each, Jackson Howe and Simon Magnin with 10. Nik Mujanovic left the court as top scorer with 25 points to his name through 49% in attack and 2 winning blocks for the team from country’s
capital, but he wasn’t enough.
Close the picture the great victory of Nice on the field of titleholders Saint Nazaire, 1-3 (17:25, 19:25, 25:21, 19:25). In front of almost 1500 volleyball fans at Salle Coubertin, the visiting side showed another good performance led by German opposite Simon Hirsch, top scorer of the game with 19 points through 43% in attack and 3 of his team’s 11 winning blocks, well supported by Alexandros Raptis, who added 18 through 56% in attack, 1 block and 2 aces, and Nooa Marttila, who also contributed with 12 (1 block and 65% in attack). With this victory, Nice fly at third place in the standings, at -1 from Montpellier and -3 from current leaders Tourcoing, to the top with 19 points.
