CEV Cup: 16th finals continue – all results of Wednesday!

Other 10 games of 2024/25 CEV Cup 16th finals were played today.
All easy for VK Lvi Praha, who literally destroyed Blue Volley Ostrava in Czech derby with the score of 3-0 (25:10, 25:10, 25:13) after just 60 minutes of play, with 10 aces, 7 winning blocks 14 points from top scorer Jakub Inhat (4 aces and 77% in attack), the only player in double digit in both sides!
Other two teams took first step towards 8th finals celebrating straight sets wins: Spain’s Guaguas Las Palmas, who defeated TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg from Austria, 3-0 (25:14, 26:24, 25:23) with 15 points from Martin Ramos (1 ace, 3 blocks and 85% in attack), and for Polish powerhouse Asseco Resovia Rzeszow, who won on the field of The Netherlands’ Orion Stars Doetinchem, 0-3 (22:25, 22:25, 15:25).
Away win also for France’s Tours VB in Switzerland, on the field of Volley Schönenwerd, 2-3 (25:23, 18:25, 25:22, 15:25, 13:15), in a very very balanced game, with an amazing duel between Mahela Jayalath Arachchige for the hosts (2 aces, 2 blocks and 46% in attack), and Hermans Egleskalns (1 ace, 1 block and 51% in attack) for Tours. Both scored 27 points.
Not a good day for the teams from Switzerland, as Lausanne UC suffered a heavy home defeat against Draisma Dynamo Apeldoorn from The Netherlands, 1-3 (25:18, 18:25, 22:25, 24:26).
In three Romanian teams who are playing CEV Cup, only CSM Corona Brasov emerged victorious, and they did it over Serbia’s Vojvodina Novi Sad, also with the score of 3-1 (25:19, 25:21, 23:25, 25:21) with 15 points each from Augusto Colito and Ewoud Gommans.
Defeats for their fellow countrymen C.S. Rapid Bucuresti, 3-1 (20:25, 25:16, 25:17, 25:17) in Estonia, on the field of Selver x Taltech Tallinn, with Lincoln Williams who scored 18 points for the winners with 1 ace and 65% in attack, while C.S. Arcada Galati, after losing first set and then leveling the score 1-1, suffered a 1-3 (18:25, 25:22, 16:25, 22:25) home defeat against last season’s Champions League winners Trentino Itas, with 21 points through 65% in attack from Alessandro Michieletto, 16 from Daniele Lavia and 12 from Flavio Gualberto.
Four sets win also for Cyprus’ Pafiakos Pafos over Lindemans Aalst from Belgium, 3-1 22:25, 25:20, 25:22, 25:19), with as many as 15 aces, and for Greece’s AONS Milon Athens, on the field of SK Jēkabpils Lūši, Latvia, 1-3 (28:26, 18:25, 17:25, 19:25).
Tomorrow Croatia’s Mladost Zagreb will face VfB Friedrichshafen from Germany in a game that will close first leg of 16th finals.
