France: Round 11 is over – 2nd win for Plessis Robinson! 3 points also for Tourcoing and Chaumont, 2 for Paris and Toulouse

3 min read

After the advance played yesterday, in which Tours defeated Saint Nazaire in four sets, Round 11 of 2024/25 Marmara Spike League has been completed today with other scheduled games.
Second seasonal win for Plessis Robinson, who defeat newcomers Cannes with the score of 3-1 (25:23, 21:25, 25:20, 25:20) in front of their home fans, led in score by Kristaps Platacs, top scorer of the game with 25 points to his name through 59% in attack and 1 ace.
Antti Ronkainen also contributed with 13 points while Tyler Mitchem was decisive with 5 winning blocks. Reda Haikal scored 24 points for Cannes including 1 ace, 1 block and 59% in attack but he wasn’t enough.
With this very important success, Plessis Robinson remain to the bottom of the standings with 7 points, but now at -2 from second-to-last Paris and -3 from Narbonne, who today faced each others in country’s capital.
The hosts celebrated a hard-fought 3-2 (20:25, 30:28, 22:25, 25:20, 15:9) victory, mostly thanks to a great performance from the service line, with as many as 14 aces, 5 from top scorer Nik Mujanovic, who left the court with 26 points through 35% in attack and also 4 of the winners’ 16 winning blocks.
Tie break win also for Toulouse who, after winning first two thrilling sets on the field of Montpellier, suffered a dangerous comeback, with 19 kill blocks from the home team. Eventually, however, they were able to regain the control of the game winning with the score of 2-3 (24:26, 29:31, 25:21, 25:22, 11:15) after 2 hours and 24 minutes of intense play. Nathan Feral top-scored Toulouse with 20 points, while Dimitar Dimitrov, top scorer of the match, tallied 25 points for Montpellier.
To the top of the standings with 28 points Tourcoing, who easily defeated Nice with a clean 3-0 (25:21, 25:19, 25:20) with 13 points from Pablo Koukartsev and 11 from Ignacio Luengas, followed by now second-placed Chaumont, with 22, who today won on the field of Sète with the score of 1-3 (24:26, 25:20, 19:25, 24:26).
Despite the hosts’ 15 winning blocks and a very good performance, to make the difference are Chaumont’s resilience, also in first set, in which they recovered from 21-15!
Niko Suihkonen top-scored the winners (and the game) with 23 points to his name through 50% in attack and 1 block, while Sète suffered the bad day of bomber Hugo De Leon, who left the court with only 7 points and only 22% in attack, replaced in third set by Celestin Cardin (5 points through 33%). Jesse Elser scored 15 points for Sète, closely followed by Daenan Gyimah with 14 including 6 winning blocks, but they weren’t enough to snatch at least one point.
