CEV Cup: 8th Finals continue – all results of Wednesday

8th Finals of 2024/25 CEV Cup continued today with other 6 games and without major upsets.
All easy in Poland, and more precisely at RCWS Podpromie in Rzeszów, where the hosts Asseco Resovia easily defeated VK Lvi Praha with the score of 3-0 (25:14, 25:18, 25:23). Although they suffered the rivals’
comeback in third sets, the winners outclassed the team from Czech Republic’s capital above all in attack (52% of team performance to 39%), led in score by Bartosz Bednorz, the most prolific player of the match with 14 points through 50% in attack, 3 aces and 1 block, Lukas Vasina who added 11, Stephen Boyer and Dawid Woch who also contributed with 10 each (78% in attack, 2 blocks and 1 ace for the latter).
Straight sets win also for Romania’s CSM Corona Brasov who, at their Sports Hall ā€Dumitru Popescu Colibasiā€, down Selver x Taltech Tallinn from Estonia in a hard fought 3-0 (25:23, 28:26, 25:14), at least in first two sets, for Italian powerhouse Trentino Itas, who sweep Sport Lisboa e Benfica in Portugal with the score of 0-3 (20:25, 23:25, 19:25), and for Spain’s Guaguas Las Palmas who, at their Centro Insular de Deportes, defeated AONS Milon Athens from Greece 3-0 (25:23, 25:23, 25:15) with 14 points from Francisco Bezerra Souza.
At Omnisportcentrum in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands, the most-quoted hosts Draisma Dynamo had to recover from 0-2 to prevail over an always combative Pafiakos Pafos from Cyprus, and 3-2 (22:25, 24:26, 25:23, 25:18, 15:11) is the final
result, with 21 points from
Thomas Sleurink (2 aces and 48% in attack), for the winners, and also 21 points from Tomas Rodriguez (3 aces, 2 winning blocks and 57% in attack) for Pafos.
Close the picture Ziraat Bank Ankara who prevail with the score of 1-3 (25:22, 16:25, 21:25, 13:15) on the fied of Galatasaray HDI Istanbul the all-turkish derby making the difference basically in all elements, starting from blocking (13 to 3), serving (11 aces to 4), and attack, led by Wouter Ter Maat and Matthew Anderson. The first one, absolute top scorer of the match, put down 26 points through 59% in attack, 2 aces and 2 blocks, while the U.S. superstar added 24 through 49% in attack, 5 aces and 2 blocks too.
Tomorrow, in last game of first leg, Croatia’s Mladost Zagreb will welcome Tours VB from France.
