Champions League: Perugia down Saint Nazaire in a game that closed fourth week

Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia showed their dominance once again in 2024/25 CEV Champions League, defeating French champions Saint-Nazaire VB Atlantique in straight sets (25:21, 25:23, 25:23) in front of almost 3000 home fans.
The Italian powerhouse remains unbeaten and hasn’t dropped a single set, cementing their position to the top in Pool D.
Perugia’s top performers included Wassim Ben Tara with 13 points through 55% and 2 blocks, Agustin Loser with 12 including 1 ace, 3 blocks and 73% in attack, and Yuki Ishikawa who added 10.
On the other side of the net, Henri Léon left the court with 15 points, supported by Jordan Ewert’s 13.
Despite their efforts, the French team now sits third in the group standings with 5 points, two wins and two losses behind leaders Perugia (12 points) and Halkbank Ankara (7 points), who yesterday down Jihostroj České Budějovice also in straight sets.
Saint-Nazaire’s next match on January 15 against Halkbank Ankara will be crucial in their fight for second place and a chance to advance to the quarterfinal playoffs.
