Italy: Milano and Trento close Round 15 with four sets wins over Monza and Modena

After four games played yesterday, last two games of 2024/25 Superlega CredemBanca Round 15 or, if you prefer, Round 4 of second leg, gas veen played today.
Allianz Milano secured a 3-0 victory over Vero Volley Monza in a derby highlighted by a historic first set, while Itas Trentino triumphed 3-1 on the road against Valsa Group Modena.
In details, Milano down last-placed 3-0 (42:40, 28:26, 25:23) in a game that was highlighted by a record-breaking 42-40 first set, the third-highest score in SuperLega history, with its 82 points!
At first place with 106 points a match between Noicom Brebanca Cuneo and Sisley Treviso in 2001/02 season, followed by the 90 points of the clash between Daytona Modena and Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia, in 2004/05. Counting also Italian Serie A2 and Serie A3, this first set lies “only” at 8th place.
Stats and numbers apart, Yacine Louati’s stellar performance earned him MVP honors in front of 3,109 volleyball fans at Allianz Cloud!
He left the court with 14 points to his name while top scorer Ferre Reggers tallied 20 and Matey Kaziyski 16, decisive in key moments of first and second set.
Not a good start of the year for Monza, who remain to the bottom of the standings with 9 points, at -1 from Gioiella Prisma Taranto, -3 from Grottazzolina and -4 from Padova.
3 points also for Itas Trentino, who won the highway A22 derby on the field of Valsa Group Modena with the score of 1-3 (25:23, 25:27, 22:25, 25:27). The winners overcame a strong Modena in an intense battle, sealing the win in the fourth set thanks to Daniele Lavia’s crucial plays in front of 4,430 spectators!
MVP of the game, Lavia scored 16 points thrlugo 61% in attack with 1
a block and the ace that closed the game, closely followed by Alessandro Michieletto who added 15 and Gabi Garcia with 10, who replaced Kamil Rychlicki starting from second set.
