France: Round 17 continues – Cannes, Paris, Saint Nazaire and Tours victorious

3 min read

After the advance played yesterday, in which Nice won on the field of Poitiers in just three sets, Round 17 of 2024/25 Marmara Spike League continued tomorrow with other 4 games, and not without upsets.
The news of the day come from Montpellier, where the hosts and current leaders Montpellier suffered a heavy 0-3 (19:25, 23:25, 15:25) sweep against an excellent Paris, led in score by a decisive Nik Mujanovic author of 21 points through 52% in attack, 3 aces and 1 block.
Tours continue their rise, celebrating a clean 3-0 (25:22, 25:20, 25:19) sweep against Toulouse, keeping the control of the game from start to finish, led by Ryan Sclater, the man of the match with 20 points to his name through 57% in attack and 3 blocks.
Not a good period for Sète, defeated also on the field of titleholders Saint Nazaire, who are struggling in this season, sitting at 11th place in the standings, with the score of 3-1 (30:28, 26:28, 25:16, 25:19). Despite 20 points from Hugo De Leon Guimarães and other three players in double digit, Tristan Schlieger with 15, Tibo Rippert who added 14 and Daenan Gyimah with 10, the hosts were better in decisive moments of the game. Titouan Halle led the charge with 23 points to his name through 60% and 2 aces.
Close the picture the 3-2 (20:25, 27:25, 25:23, 17:25, 15:13) success of newcomers Cannes against Narbonne, despite 29 points from an excellent Casey Schouten (1 ace, 2 blocks and 62% in attack) and a slightly better performance in attack of the visiting side. However, the winners made the difference above all in blocking scoring 14 points from this element compared to the rivals’8. Reda Haikal, Marco Pierotti and Lukas Demar scored 13 points each for the winners, while Omar Biglino added 12.
Round 17 will continue tomorrow with the big match between Chaumont and Tourcoing.
