France: Round 18 is over - Montpellier and Chaumont to the top! Toulouse, Poitiers and Tours ok

After the advance played yesterday, in which Tourcoing needed five sets to prevail against a combative Plessis Robinson, Round 18 of 2024/25 Marmara Spike League has been completed today.
With newcomers Cannes who had a dayoff today, now to the top both with 36 points and at +1 from Tourcoing, Montpellier and Chaumont.
The first one, after losing first set, won on the field of Nice with the score of 1-3 (25:22, 19:25, 18:25, 17:25) and without major problems in next three sets, led in score by Dimitar Dimitrov, absolute top scorer of the game with 21 points to his name through 56% in attack 2 of his team’s 12 winning blocks and 1 ace, while Ezequiel Palacios also contributed with 17 including 4 aces and 3 blocks.
Chaumont, on the other hand, easily won with the score of 0-3 (11:25, 21:25, 20:25) on the field of titleholders Saint Nazaire, who remain firmly at 11th place in the standings.
Behind them, at 4th place with 32 points, Tours, who trampled over Narbonne winning their away game in a clean sweep, 0-3 (19:25, 12:25, 16:25), after just 1 hour and 10 minutes of play.
3 points and away win also for Poitiers who, after losing first set, down Paris with the score of 1-3 (25:20, 23:25, 19:25, 19:25) with 21 points from top scorer Bozidar Vucicevic (58% in attack, 1 block and 2 aces), while Sète wasted a 2-0 lead then suffering Toulouse’s comeback, 2-3 (25:17, 25:22, 29:31, 19:25, 14:16).
Absolutely better in blocking (13 to 6) and from the service line, with as many as 12 aces to 6, the winners were led in score by Noa Duflos Rossi (29 points through 52% in attack, 3 aces and 3 blocks), the same number of points of Tristan Schlienger, with the hosts’ jersey (53% in attack, 2 blocks and 1 ace). For Sète, now at 10th place, this was 6th defeat in a row.
