France: Chaumont down Montpellier in advance of Round 22 and fly to the top!

Round 22 of 2024/25 Marmara Spike League started today with the big match between No.2 Chaumont and current leaders Montpellier, at least…prior to this game!
In fact, after losing first set, the home team celebrated a well-deserved 3-1 (23:25, 25:22, 27:25, 25:20) hard-fought success.
After more than 2 hours of play, and despite the rivals’ better performance in blocking (11 to 2), the winners were led in score by a great Mathis Henno who left the court with 21 points to his name through 65% in attack and 1 ace, well supported by Niko Suihkonen, who added 17 through 73% in attack and 1 block, and Pierre Toledo, also in double digit contributing with 15. Ezequiel Palacios scored 17 points for Montpellier, now at -1 from Chaumont with 42 points in the standings at second place, and at +4 from Tourcoing, who tomorrow will welcome Saint Nazaire and Tours, who have a dayoff this week.
Round 22 will close tomorrow with the other scheduled games.
