Poland: Round 28 continues – 3 points for Warszawa, Resovia and Lublin

Round 28 or, in you prefer, Round 13 of second leg, of 2024/25 Plusliga started with two advances on Thursday, continued today with other three games.
PGE Projekt Warszawa swept Trefl Gdańsk 3-0 (25:22, 25:21, 25:19) after first two tight sets, but then they stepped up in the third, sealing a dominant win. This victory pushes them to second place, tied on points with Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie who, on Thursday, defeated already relegated Nowak-Mosty MKS Będzin at tie break.
Meanwhile, Gdańsk’s playoff dreams are officially over.
Linus Weber led the charge scoring 16 points for the winners, well supported by Tobias Brand and Artur Szalpuk, who added 13 and 11, respectively, while Jan Firlej earned MVP honors. Aliaksei Nasevich scored 22 points on the other side of the net.
Asseco Resovia Rzeszów extended their winning streak, by beating Ślepsk Malow Suwałki 3-1 (25:16, 18:25, 25:20, 28:26) in what was their 13th win in a row (9th in PlusLiga), solidifying their playoff position. For Ślepsk Malow Suwałki, the loss is a major blow to their playoff spot chances.
Stephen Boyer led the charge with 22 points to his name through 53% in attack, 5 aces, 1 block and MVP award.
In the evening, Bogdanka LUK Lublin made a volleyball lesson with a 3-0 win (25:23, 25:21, 25:12) over Indykpol AZS Olsztyn, penalized by the absence of starting players Nicolas Szerszeń and Mateusz Janikowski. This loss officially knocks them out of the playoff race.
Aleks Grozdanov was named MVP with 14 points to his name including 1 ace, 5 blocks and 100% in attack, while Kewin Sasak also contributed with 11, closely followed by Wilfredo Leon’s 10.
Round 28 will continue tomorrow with other two games: leaders Jastrzębski Węgiel will welcome PSG Stal Nysa, and then Steam Hemarpol Norwid Częstochowa will face Cuprum Stilon Gorzów.
