Champions League: Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie and Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia take first step toward final four!

Quarterfinals of 2024/25 CEV Champions League started today with first two games.
In the first one, at Lüneburg’s LKH Arena, Germany, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie from Poland literally destroyed the hosts SVG Lüneburg with a clear 0-3 (15:25, 21:25, 14:25), after just 71 minutes of play.
The winners controlled the match from start to finish, giving themselves a strong advantage before the rematch on March 18 in Sosnowiec, where they can book their ticket to the Final Four in Łódź after dominating in attack, blocking (8-3), and serving (10-3), with MVP Karol Butryn leading the charge with 15 points through 58% attack efficiency, 2 aces, and 2 blocks, well supported by Aaron Russell, who added 13. Xander Ketrzynski was the most prolific player for Lüneburg with 10 points.
Also Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia took a big step toward CEV Champions League semifinals, defeating Mint Vero Volley Monza 1-3 (25:19, 16:25, 17:25, 25:27) on the road in the first leg of the quarterfinals in all-italian derby.
Monza started strong, winning the opening set, but the Italian champions quickly took the control of the game, dominating the rest of the game, until a decisive fourth set ended overtime in which both sides showed a great volleyball. Kamil Semeniuk was the star of the night, scoring 17 points with a 58% attack efficiency, two blocks, 60% reception and MVP honora.
Perugia’s superior attacking and blocking (9-14) proved to be decisive, with Wassim Ben Tara (12), Agustin Loser (12), and Yuki Ishikawa (11) also in double digits adding to the team’s firepower.
On the other side, Erik Rohrs and Taylor Averill led Monza with 15 and 14 points, respectively.
The decisive second leg is set for March 20 in Perugia. The winner will secure a spot in the Final Four in Łódź (May 16-18), facing the winners of the clash between Halkbank Ankara and PGE Projekt Warszawa matchup.
