Perugia fly to Champions League Final Four with a great win over Monza in all-Italian derby

Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia is last team to take the ticket to 2024/25 CEV Champions League Final Four after another commanding performance in front of their home fans at PalaBarton, defeating MINT Vero Volley Monza 3-1 (25:18, 23:25, 25:14, 31:29).

With this win, Perugia cements their place among Europe’s elite, keeping their continental dreams alive.
Well supported by a roaring home crowd, they wasted no time setting the tone, comfortably taking the first set. However the rivals, refusing to go down so quickly, hit back in the second, showing their resilience, but the home team’s response is a dominant third set where they completely overpowered Monza.
The fourth set was the most excited one, with Monza throwing everything they had at Perugia, even wasting several set points, even if Perugia held their nerve, closing out the match overtime to punch its ticket to Lodz.
Japan’s superstar Yuki Ishikawa was the star of the night, leading the winners with 19 points and proving unstoppable in decisive moments of the game, while Oleh Plotnytskyi with 13 and Wassim Ben Tara with 11 also played crucial roles.

Coach Angelo Lorenzetti praised his squad’s resilience:
“Monza made us work hard, but we stayed focused when it mattered most. Now, we prepare for the biggest challenge—bringing the trophy home“, he said.
