CEV Cup: Ziraat down Resovia at tie break in first leg of final!

Ziraat Bank Ankara took a significant step toward 2024/25 CEV Cup title by defeating reigning champions Asseco Resovia Rzeszów 2-3 (27:25, 21:25, 25:23, 23:25, 17:19) in an electrifying first leg of the final.
The Turkish powerhouse displayed mental toughness and superior composure in decisive moments of the game, eventually winning a dramatic tie-break to silence the Polish crowd.
The man of the match was Matthew Anderson, who earned MVP honors with a stellar all-around performance with 28 points through 55% attack efficiency, seasoned by 1 ace and 3 winning blocks, well supported by an excellent Wouter Ter Maat, who also scored 28 points.
Stephen Boyer was the most prolific player for the hosts scoring 22 points.
Ziraat Bank’s comeback in the fourth set and clutch execution in the fifth made the difference, showcasing their experience on the European stage.
The win gives them an edge ahead of the return leg on April 9 in Ankara, where they’ll look to finish the job started on their home soil.
