Russia: Zenit-Kazan and Zenit St. Petersburg take the lead after Game 1 of semifinals
2 min read
2024/25 PARI Superliga semifinals kicked off with high matches in Kazan and Tula.
In Kazan, defending champions and regular season absolute leaders Zenit-Kazan swept Dynamo-LO in straight sets, 3-0 (25:23, 25:21, 25:18), with Dmitry Volkov’s serves and Sam Deroo’s attack who made the difference. The rivals, without their top scorer Pavel Avdochenko, couldn’t match Zenit’s rhythm.
Game 2 takes place already tomorrow, April 4.
Meanwhile, in Tula, Zenit St. Petersburg beat the hosts Belogorie Belgorod in a tight five-set battle, ended with the score of 2-3 (23:25, 25:23, 25:21, 25:27, 13:15), showing resilience in a hard-fought tie-break. Viktor Poletaev led the charge with 21 points, while Belgorod’s Denis Chereisky scored 18. The rematch is set for Saturday, April 5.
