Poland: Warszawa and Zawiercie join Jastrzębski to semifinals!

Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie fly into 2024/25 PlusLiga semifinals with a commanding 0-3 (25:27, 18:25, 18:25) victory on the field of Asseco Resovia Rzeszów in Game 2 of quarterfinals.
With this win, they secured the series 2-0, having also triumphed 3-1 in the first clash.
Aluron made the difference also from the service line, securing 9 aces to Resovia’s 4, and a solid offensive showing across all sets.
Aaron Russell led the charge with 16 points to his name, while Bartosz Kwolek earned the MVP title with 10 points from 14 attempts and an impressive 71% attack efficiency), two aces, and a 62% positive reception rate. Mateusz Bieniek added 10 points to the tally.
On the losing side, Stephen Boyer was the top scorer for Resovia with 17 points, supported by Bartosz Bednorz’s 11, but their efforts fell short against a team that proved to be better in all elements.
Aluron will now face PGE Projekt Warszawa, who clinched their spot in the PlusLiga semi-finals after edging out PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów in a thrilling five-set showdown. The team from country’s capital triumphed 2-3 (19:25, 25:19, 18:25, 25:20, 21:23) in a match filled with momentum swings and a nail-biting tie-break that ended 23:21 in their favor.
Although the first four sets were mostly one-sided, the decisive fifth set delivered intense drama, showcasing the winners’ resilience and composure under pressure.
Artur Szalpuk led the charge with 23 points to his name, well supported by an almost perfect Jakub Kochanowski, who added 15 points through an impressive 91% attack efficiency, 5 winning blocks and MVP honors.
