France: Semifinals kick off today! Tours sweep Montpellier, Poitiers stun Chaumont

Semifinals of 2024/25 Marmara Spike League started today with Games 1 of best-of-three series, both won by away sides.
Regular season winners Montpellier, who eliminated Cannes in Game 4, suffered an unexpected home defeat against No.5 Tours, semifinalist after just three wins over Nice.
Alexandre Strehlau led the charge with 1 ace, 62% in attack, followed by Ryan Sclater, who added 13, Leandro Santos and Antoine Pothron, also in double digit with 11 points each. To make the difference, however, was blocking, with 12 points from this element compared to the hosts’5, while libero Luca Ramon earned MVP honors.
Dimitar Dimitrov, top scorer of the game with 21 points to his name through 53% in attack, 1 ace and 1 block, was the only player in double digit for Montpellier.
Away win also for Poitiers, who stun Tourcoing in Game 5 of quarterfinals, over Chaumont, who reach semifinals after three games but today unable to capitalize in decisive moments of the match.
Setter Brett Walsh, named MVP of the match, sent 4 players in double digit: Nik Mujanovic, once again absolute top scorer of the match with 23 points to his name including 2 aces, 1 block and 49% in attack, Thoral Thibault, Renan Michielucci and Thomas Pujol, who added 14 each.
