Shock in German Women’s Volleyball: historic club SC Potsdam withdraws Bundesliga license!

What a blow for German women’s volleyball – SC Potsdam Sport & Marketing GmbH has withdrawn its application for a license in the 1st Bundesliga for the upcoming 2025/26 season.
Despite several deadline extensions, the club could not prove the required financial stability and, since the licensing notice on June 18, it was evident that its plans were insufficient. Ans so, even a re-licensing attempt failed, as the team also faced sanctions from the 2024/25 season.
As a result, SC Potsdam will no longer compete in the top league, though their rights in the 2nd Bundesliga remain unaffected.
This decision not only ends Potsdam’s Bundesliga campaign but also leaves a significant gap in German women’s volleyball, where the club had been a strong and historic competitor.
