France: 2025/26 season kicks off today and not without early upsets! All results of Round 1

2025/26 Marmara Spike League kicks off today with all 7 games of Round 1, and not without upsets!
Plessis-Robinson caused the major early bomb by beating super favorite Chaumont on the road in four sets, 1-3 (25:20, 19:25, 17:25, 26:28), in front of more than 1000 volleyball fans at Palestra.
After a first set won by the home team without major problems despite a balanced start, Plessis Robinson soon regrouped to easily take the next two, together with the decisive fourth one overtime almost wasting a 18-21 lead!
To make the difference a great performance in blocking, scoring as many as 16 points from this element (5 only from Raphaël Pascal and from top scorer Nathan Canovas, who led all scoring with 20 points through 45% in attack) compared to Chaumont’s 10.
Jacob Pasteur scored 17 points for the home team.
Four sets win also for Montpellier, who needed almost two hours of play to prevail over a combative Cannes, 3-1 (25:17, 23:25, 25:23, 25:20), in front of their home fans.
Simon Hirsch led the charge with 22 points to his name through 57% in attack, 2 aces and 3 of his team’s 12 winning blocks (only 2 for Cannes), while Xander Ketrzynski led all scores scoring 28 points for the losing sode including 63% in attack, 1 ace and 1 block.
The same did also Narbonne, who down Toulouse on their home soil by 3-1 (25:21, 25:19, 24:26, 26:24) after 2 hours and 12 minutes of play. In a very balanced match, in front of almost 3000 volleyball fans at Narbonne Arena, Willner Rivas was the man of the match with 24 points through 64% in attack, 1 ace and MVP award, while Timo Beriot scored as many as 30 points on the other side of the net with the same percentage in attack and 2 blocks, but he wasn’t enough to snatch at least one point, like Nice, Poitiers and Sète, who closed their respective games at tie break.
Tourcoing won a thrilling game on the field of a reworked Nice, 2-3 (25:22, 24:26, 23:25, 25:16, 11:15)

Venislav Antov earned MVP award with 26 points to his name through 53% in attack and 1 block, well supported by a great Simon Roehrig, who added 19 through an impressive 70% in attack, 4 blocks and 1 ace, while for Nice, who made the difference in blocking scoring as many as 18 points from this element (7 for the winners), Shay Mayo Liberman tallied 21 points through 55% in attack and 4 blocks.
Away win at tie break also for Sète, who won on the field of Paris with the score of 2-3 (25:16, 20:25, 25:15, 20:25, 13:15), while St-Nazaire managed to win against Poitiers 3-2 (11:25, 25:21, 26:24, 25:23, 15:13), in front of their home fans, with 23 points from Filip John.
Close the picture the clean sweep of defending champions Tours over newcomers Ajaccio, 3-0 (25:22, 25:23, 25:20), with 15 points from bomber and MVP Nik Mujanovic.
