Poland: Jastrzębski Węgiel win a five-sets battle, Lublin dominate 2025/26 PlusLiga opener

2025/26 PlusLiga season kicked off with intensity and drama and continues today with other two games.
In Olsztyn, JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel defeated Indykpol AZS Olsztyn 2-3 (23:25, 25:19, 25:17, 18:25, 11:15) in a thrilling five-set battle.
After the home team took control with strong performances from Moritz Karlitzek, who left the court with 19 points to his name and Paweł Halaba, who added 17, the winners rallied to win the last two sets led by Anton Brehme, who tallied 15 points through 75% attack efficiency including two aces and a block, also earning MVP honors.
In Częstochowa, defending champions Bogdanka LUK Lublin began their title defense with a convincing 0-3 (16:25, 26:28, 17:25) win over Steam Hemarpol Politechnika Częstochowa.
Despite a hard-fought second set, their dominance in serving and blocking made the difference, with Marcin Komenda earning MVP awards leading his team to a very confident start.
Round 1 will close next Wednesday with ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle who will welcome Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, while Cuprum Stilon Gorzów will face PGE GiEK SKRA Bełchatów.
Second Round will start on Saturday with first three games.
