Coupe de France: Chaumont (what a comeback!), Tours, Nice and Paris to quarterfinals

3 min read

Quarterfinals of 2025/26 Coupe de France were played today with Chaumont, Tours, Nice and Paris qualified to semifinals.
What a comeback for Chaumont!
After losing first two sets on the field of a very combative Ligue B side Saint Quentin, Silvano Prandi’s team regrouped and eventually managed to win a great game with the score of 2-3 (25:21, 25:22, 22:25, 14:25, 12:15).
With a decisive performance in blocking, with 13 points from this element, the winners were led in score by Alexandros Raptis, who recorded 17 points, closely followed by Joshua Marty, who added 16 starting from the bench to replace Pierre Toledo, and an excellent Twan Wiltenburg, who also contributed with 14 through 67% in attack, 1 ace and as well as 9 winning blocks! Matheus De Almeida and Julien Faganas scored 20 and 19 points for the home side, that says good bye to Coupe de France after a great battle.
Tie break win also for Tours, who eliminated Saint Nazaire celebrating a 3-2 (25:22, 27:29, 25:13, 27:29, 15:6) success in front of more than 2400 home fans at Salle Grenon.
Also in this match, winning blocks made the difference, as the winners boast as many as 17 points from this element, 8 only from Leandro Santos, who left the court with 18 points through 75% in attack, without errors, and 1 ace. Slovenian bomber Nik Mujanovic once again led the charge with 21 points through 56% in attack, 1 ace and 1 block, while Filip John poured in 23 on the other side of the net.
Semifinal ticket also for a Nice that, after losing first set with the minimum gap after trailing 21-18, and a hard-fought second set in which they had to recover from 16-13, managed to beat ligue B side Martigues on the road with the score of 1-3 (25:23, 22:25, 15:25, 12:25). In a game in which the winners made the difference from serve line, putting down as many as 13 aces, MVP Shay Liberman led the charge with 21 points through 59% in attack, 1 block and 4 aces, well supported by Dawid Dulski and captain Ryley Barnes, who returned to starting six after several weeks of stop, with 15 points each.
Maoni Talia and KÊvin François top-scored Martigues with 15 and 12 points, respectively.
In the only game ended in straights sets, Paris sweep Poitiers 3-0 (25:23, 25:22, 25:19) without major problems, with a good team performance and 17 points from Vasily Molotkov (54% in attack with 1 ace and 1 block).
