The Italian powerhouse Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia sweep Japan’s Osaka Osaka Bluteon in the final of FIVB 2025 Club World
Championship winning the tournament in Belém, Brazil for the third time is as many appearances, in 2022 and 2023 editions.
At the Mangueirinho Arena, the winners celebrated a 3-0 (25:20, 25:21, 29:27) victory that took them back to the top of the podium.
The Italians are now just the third team to have three or more world titles on the men’s side, joining compatriots Itas Trentino and Brazil’s Sada Cruzeiro, which have five each.
Perhaps most impressively, Perugia won all three titles with undefeated campaigns, in this edition dropping only two sets along the way, to Osaka, during pool play!
And players took part in all three world titles won by Perugia, setter Simone Giannelli, outside hitters Kamil Semeniuk and Oleh Plotnytskyi, middle blockers Roberto Russo and Sebastián Solé, and libero Massimo Colaci.
In the final, Tunisian opposite Wassim Ben Tara, was Perugia’s most prolific player with 16 points to his name
including 2 winning blocks, while Kamil Semeniuk also reached a double digits in scoring, leaving the court with 13 points including one ace.
Team captain and star opposite Yuji Nishida was the most prolific player in Osaka’s offense with 14 points, all in attack, while middle blocker Larry Evbade-Dan and Cuban outside hitter Miguel Ángel López added 10 points each.
Making just their second appearance in the Club World Championship, Osaka made history in 2025, taking Japan to the final for the first time, and they were fifth in their first appearance, in 2013.
Giannelli wins second MVP award
Repeating what he did in Perugia’s first victory in 2022, team captain Giannelli earned the tournament’s MVP award, as well as the best setter award.

Meanwhile, Poland’s Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie win bronze in their first Club World Championship appearance, defeating Brazil’s Volei Renata also in straight sets, 3-0 (27:25, 25:19, 25:21)
The runners-up of the last CEV Champions League are now one of just three clubs in the country to have medaled in the tournament, joining PGE Skra Belchatow (silver in 2009 and 2010 and bronze in 2012) and KS Jastrzebski Wegiel (silver in 2011).
For Campinas, the fourth-place finish obtained in Belém is also their best result in the event, as they were sixth in 2022.
This edition, however, marked the first time since 2018 that Brazil failed to have a team on the podium.
American outside hitter Aaron Russell led the winners in the bronze medal match, producing 16 points including two aces and one block, while fellow outside hitter Bartosz Kwolek and team captain and middle blocker Mateusz Bieniek also had solid displays, contributing 13 points each.
Campinas had Brazilian national team outside hitter Adriano Xavier leading their scoring efforts with 11 points, all in attack, while opposite Newton ‘Acerola’ Fernandes and Olympic champion outside hitter Maurício Borges followed with ten and nine points, respectively.
