Round 14 of 2025/26 Marmara Spike League started today with six games.
After losing first set on the field of Paris, leaders Tours quickly regrouped to close the game in country’s capital with the score of 1-3 (25:21, 22:25, 16:25, 16:25), confirming themselves to the top with 35 points in the standings after 12 victories. Nik Mujanovic led the charge with 25 points to his name with 3 aces, 1 block and 48% in attack, while Vasily Molotkov topped all scorers with 30 points on the other side of the net (52% in attack with 3 aces and 3 blocks), but he wasn’t enough to stop the rivals.
Behind Tours at -1 Montpellier, who did the same on the field of No.3 Tourcoing, winning the game with the score of 1-3 (26:24, 21:25, 22:25, 21:25) after losing first set too. Ezequiel Palacios and Mathias Vincent top-scored the winners with 16 points each, well supported by an almost perfect Haukea Mare, who added 12 through 90% in attack, 2 blocks and 1 ace.
Three very important points also for Saint Nazaire, who won in just three sets, 0-3 (22:25, 18:25, 20:25), on the field of an again bad Chaumont, which return to the bottom of the current charts with only 12 points and just three wins in Ligue A this season.
To stay in France’s elite competition they have to compete right now with newcomers Ajaccio and Saint Nazaire, both at +2 with 14 points in the standings. Interestingly, today Chaumont played third set with backup libero Lilian Le Meur as setter instead Brett Walsh as a decision of head coach Silvano Prandi after the absence of second setter (injured) Sergiusz Serafin!
Ajaccio celebrated 3-2 (25:19, 19:25, 20:25, 25:18, 15:13) home win against Cannes with 30 points from Daniel Bala (64% in attack with 2 blocks and 1 ace).
Tie break win also for Narbonne in the derby against Sète after trailing 0-2, 3-2 (17:25, 21:25, 25:23, 25:21, 15:11) with 20 points from Nooa Marttila, and for No.4 Plessis-Robinson, who won a hard-fought clash against their closest pursuers Poitiers 3-2 (22:25, 26:24, 26:28, 26:24, 15:12), with 15 winning blocks, 23 points from Brett Wildman and 19 from Nathan Canovas.
Round 14 will close tomorrow with the clash between Nice and Toulouse.
