Poriya Khanzadeh parts ways with Cucine Lube Civitanova. Destination Russia?
2 min read
Cucine Lube Civitanova officially confirmed the departure of Iranian outside hitter Poriya Hossein Khanzadeh, who informed the club on Tuesday of his decision to leave with immediate effect.
In a short statement, italian club described the move as a unilateral and unmotivated decision, adding that they are evaluating all available options to safeguard their position following the player’s sudden exit.
The announcement also echoes reports from Iranian volleyball circles that the player will continue season in Russia.
Either way, the departure leaves head coach Giampaolo Medei with one fewer outside hitter in the roster, particularly in moments where his powerful serve had proved effective.
Khanzadeh played with Civitanova’s jersey most recent Champions League match on Wednesday in Leuven, playing the full contest and scoring 10 points, including one block and three aces, in a clean straight-sets victory.
