Italy: Modena stun Trento in midweek Round 16. Verona, Piacenza, Civitanova and Perugia ok

Midweek Round 16 of 2025/26 Superlega Credem Banca started today with 5 of six scheduled game and it will be completed tomorrow with the clash between Cisterna Volley and Vero Volley Monza.
Modena down Trento in four sets, Perugia stayed perfect, and several clean road wins unfolded with little room for upsets.
The night’s big match belonged to Valsa Group Modena, which defended home court by beating Itas Trentino 3-1 (25:17, 19:25, 25:21, 25:21) in a big classic of Italian volleyball. Modena showed aggressive serving and composure in the closing sets to secure a valuable win and tighten the race near the top, with 18 points from Paul Buchegger and 15 from Luca Porro.
League leaders Sir Susa Scai Perugia also stayed on course, sweeping MA Acqua S.Bernardo Cuneo on the road 0-3 (27:29, 23:25, 22:25).
After a tense first set that went to extra points, Perugia took control and closed the match in straight sets to remain alone to the top, with 15 points from Wassim Ben Tara and 13 from Kamil
Semeniuk.
Away victories also for Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza, which opened the round with a composed 0-3 (23:25, 20:25, 17:25) win on the field of Allianz Milano.

Meanwhile, Cucine Lube Civitanova did the same cruising past Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina in the Marche derby, 0-3 (20:25, 18:25, 17:25), with 18 points from Aleksandar Nikolov while, in Verona, the hosts Rana Verona handled Sonepar Padova also in straight sets, 3-0 (25:18, 25:21, 25:23), in a result that keeps Verona alone in second place in the standings.
