Italy: Modena win at tie break a wonderful derby against Piacenza in advance of Round 18

Round 18 of 2025/26 Superlega CredemBanca or, if you prefer, Round 7, of second leg, started today with the very important game for 4th place between Valsa Group Modena and Gas Sales BluEnergy Piacenza.
Trailing 1-3, the home team performed a great comeback and, with resilience and determination, smashed the rivals at tie break in one of the most exciting derby of recent times, 3-2 (18:25, 25:21, 23:25, 25:23, 15:9), with a final ace of an amazing Paul Buchegger.
A two-points-success that is worth fourth place with the same number of points of today’s rivals, but one win more.
Great protagonist of the match Luca Porro, awarded MVP and author of 15 points, together with Vlad Davyskiba, also in double digit with 12, and Paul Buchegger, top scorer with 18 points to his name. For Piacenza, on the other hand, 20 points for Alessandro Bovolenta, 16 from Efe Mandiraci and 13 from Jose Gutierrez.
Round 18 will close tomorrow and will be filled with exciting direct clashes, with the only exception of game between second-to-last Cisterna Volley and No.2 Rana Verona.
