CEV Cup: Piacenza down Jastrzebski Wegiel in Poland in first leg of playoffs

Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza celebrated a great 1-3 (25:23, 21:25, 23:25, 14:25) win at Hala Widowiskowo – Sportowa of Jastrzebie Zdroj over a modest Jastrzebski Wegiel, who confirmed themselves protagonists of a mediocre season (currently only at 7th place in Plusliga), in first leg of Playoffs of 2025/26 CEV Cup.
In second leg at PalabancaSport, on Wednesday February 18 at 20.30 (Local Time), the italians needed just two sets.
After losing a hard-fought first set, easily won the second one, recovering from a bad start in third one and then wasting a 19-23 until a dangerous 23-23, the winners closed fourth with a clear 14-25, with 4 players in double digit: Efe Mandiraci with 22 punti, Alessandro Bovolenta with 20, including the one that closed the contest, José Gutierrez with 15 and Joris Seddik with 11 including three winning blocks.
