France: Round 21 completed – 3 points for leaders Tours, Montpellier, Toulouse and Sète. 2 for Narbonne after an epic comeback over Chaumont!

After the advance played yesterday, in which Paris sweep Cannes in straight sets, and the win of Tourcoing with the same result, Round 21 of 2025/26 MARMARA Spike League has been completed today with the remaining five games.
The day started with a straight sets win of Montpellier over Poitiers, 3-0 (25:17, 28:26, 25:23), in a success that marks the second-placed in the standings 14th seasonal home win in as many games, counting all competition!
Vincent Mathias led the charge with 16 points to his name through 52% in attack, 3 blocks as well as MVP awards, well supported by Tomas Lopez who added 15 through 48% in attack, 50% positive receptions and 2 blocks, and Nikolay Kartev, also in double digit with 11 (1 block and 77% in attack!). Tomas Pujol was the only player in double digit on the other side of the net.
Meanwhile, Narbonne completed an amazing comeback on the field of Chaumont, who wasted a 2-0 lead and 2 decisive match points in third set, ended with a dramatic 28-30. A result that marked the visiting side’s comeback, able then to close the game with the score of 2-3 (26:24, 25:20, 28:30, 21:25, 12:15)!
The players around head coach Lorenzo Tubertini so put an end to the series of 11th losses in a row away from home!
Michael Czerwinski earned MVP honors with 28 points to his name through 54% in attack and 2 aces, well supported by Peregrine Vargas (21 points through 42% in attack, 4 aces and 3 blocks), and Liam Patte who added 18 through 50% in attack, 3 blocks and 53% positive receptions. Double digit also for Miguel Angel Fornes who also contributed with 13 points through 80% in attack, 1 ace and 4 blocks!
Good news also for Sète, who won in four sets for the first time ever on the field of St-Nazaire, 1-3 (22:25, 23:25, 25:21, 21:25), to reach sixth place in the standings, under the command of setter Angel Trinidad the Haro, who also contributed with 4 points including 1 ace, while MVP Lorenz Karlitzek scored 18 points through 58% in attack, 46% positive receptions, 1 ace and 2 blocks.
The same did Toulouse who, despite the absence of head coach Patrick Duflos, suspended a week ago, down last-placed Ajaccio also 1-3 (13:25, 25:20, 16:25, 22:25) on the road. Wilson Silva earned MVP honors with 23 points to his name through an impressive 81% in attack, 71% positive receptions, 5 aces and 1 block, while Axel Rodriguez also contributed with 11 through 75% (6/8) in attack and 5 blocks. This is a great moment for Toulouse, who earned 15 points in last 5 games (Narbonne, Saint Nazaire, Tours, Chaumont and now also Ajaccio).
Close the picture a 3-1 (24:26, 25:22, 25:16, 25:21) win of leaders Tours in front of 2500 volleyball fans at their Salle Grenon. After two losses in a row, they down Plessis Robinson who sufferes the absences of Julian Debès, Marin Dukic and Maxwell Elgert.
MVP Yaoussia Kavogo scored 18 points for the winners through 55% in attack, 79% positive receptions, 1 ace and 2 blocks.
About Plessis Robinson, after a great start in the season, suffered sixth defeat in a row, without collecting points, sliding from 4th place in the standings to 7th!
Ligue A will continue next Thursday with the advance of Round 22 between Toulouse and Tourcoing.
