Italy: penultimate Round completed. Trento, Modena and Piacenza still in race for third place!

After the advance played yesterday, in which Sir Susa Scai Perugia sweep Rana Verona to win regular season, Round 21 of 2025/26 Superlega CredemBanca or, if you prefer, Round 10, of second leg, has been completed today with the remaining five games.
Thanks to today’s results, Verona to breathe a sigh of relief as despite yesterday’s defeat, secured second place in the standings.
This was due Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza’s amazing win over Itas Trentino in the big match of the day, ended with the score of 3-1 (23:25, 25:23, 25:21, 25:22) that followed a hard-fought battle.
Efe Mandiraci led the charge with 25 points to his name, well supported by Jose Gutierrez who added 18, while on the losing side the most prolific player was Bela Bartha, who left the court with 16 points. Thus Trento remain at third place with 44 points, hooked by Valsa Group Modena, who trampled over already relegated Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina, closing the game with a clean 0-3 (26:28, 18:25, 20:25).
On Wednesday, they’ll face Verona, now firmly at second place, at their PalaPanini. After a hard-fought first set, Alberto Giuliani’s side managed to win the game without other problems, wirh a great contribution from Giovanni Sanguinetti, author of 14 points.
Behind them at -1, with 43 points in the standings Piacenza, while Cucine Lube Civitanova, who secured sixth place in the standings, struggled more than expected on the field of Cisterna Volley, winning the game only at tie break. With a 0-2 lead, they suffered the hosts’ comeback, but eventually dominated decisive fifth set led by a great Pablo Kukartsev, decisive in the final, 2-3 (18:25, 17:25, 25:23, 29:27, 7:15), while Aleksandar Nikolov earned MVP honors with as many as 34 points to his name. On the other side of the net Tommaso Barotto replied with 29 points and his best seasonal performance.
At seventh place Allianz Milano, defeated today by No.8 Vero Volley Monza in an irrelevant derby, with a somptuous performance in blocking (16 winning blocks for Monza, 5 each from Leandro Mosca and captain Thomas Beretta).
Mathematically at 8th and 7th place in the final charts, Monza will close their regular season on the field of already sixth Civitanova, while Milano will welcome MA Acqua S. Bernardo Cuneo, defeated today at home by Sonepar Padova, at tie break, 2-3 (25:21, 17:25, 25:22, 21:25, 14:16). Orioli with 20 points, Stefani with 19 and Gardini with 18 led the charge for the winners who, in the last one of regular season, will hosts Piacenza.
Regular season will close on Wednesday with all six games of Round 22, the last one, before a weekend of great volleyball in Trieste for Del Monte Supercoppa and then the playoffs!
