After five exciting games, three of them ended at tie break, the dramatic 2025/26 Superlega CredemBanca quarterfinals series between Valsa Group Modena, No.4 in regular season, and No.5 Gas Sales BluEnergy Piacenza came into an end, with the win of Piacenza in decisive Game 5!
Piacenza started strong, winning first set without major problems, then the hosts tried to reopen the game and leveled the score, but an excellent Piacenza managed to take a well-deserved 1-3 (18:25, 25:21, 20:25, 20:25) victory and last ticket to semifinals, in which they’ll face regular season winners Sir Susa Scai Perugia.
Efe Mandiraci delivered another great performance earning MVP honors with 22 points to his name through 59% in attack and as many as 9 aces, of his team’s 12.
Also Josè Gutierrez made a strong contribution adding 17 through 67% in attack, 2 aces and 3 blocks, and Simon added 10.
On the other side of the net, Luca Porro and Paul Buchegger scored 14 points each, but they were not enough for a Modena who now will compete for 5th place and a spot in next edition of CEV Challenge Cup.
Semifinals will start on Easter Day, April 5, with the clash between Rana Verona and Cucine Lube Civitanova, while on Easter Monday today’s winners Piacenza will travel to Perugia.
