CEV Cup: Final is Piacenza – Lüneburg! Ljubljana and Maaseik eliminated in semifinals

In 2025/26 CEV Cup final, Germany’s SVG Lüneburg will face Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza, both victorious today in their respective semifinals.
Thanks to a four sets win in Belgium in first leg, the first one needed two sets to take Final ticket, and they did it against a very combative Greenyard Maaseik, 3-2 (27:25, 28:26, 23:25, 23:25, 16:14). The rivals then leveled the score until 2-2, but then Lüneburg closed a contest with all five sets ended with the minimum gap, and after 142 minutes of intense play despite a large turnover for both sides after first two sets. Christopher Byam and Daniel Gruvaeus top-scored the winners with 13 and 12 points, respectively, while Eliot De Vleeschhauwer and Pierre Perin tallied 19 and 18 points for the losing side.
Meanwhile Piacenza replied with a convincing performance in Slovenia, winning the game 1-3 (19:25, 22:25, 25:13, 22:25), and this was enough after a hard-fought first leg ended at tie break.
MVP Alessandro Bovolenta led the winners with 20 points through 51% in attack and 1 ace, while Efe Mandiraci and Robertlandy Simon (78% in attack and 4 blocks!) also contributed with 12 each.
Tonček Stern was the most prolific player of the match tallying 23 points (61% in attack and 2 blocks) for the home team.
