Round 2 of new 2026/27 Tauron Liga has been completed today with the clash between Podziemia Kredowe ChKS Chełm and Asseco Resovia Rzeszów.
The visiting side bounced back from their opening-round disappointment with a convincing 0-3 (19:25, 17:25, 13:25) away victory. After letting a win slip away in a five-set defeat to Norwid Częstochowa, Resovia delivered a much more assured performance, controlling the match from the opening exchanges.
The visitors established their authority early in the first set, building a comfortable lead through effective serving and a well-organised block-defence system. Chełm struggled to receive Resovia’s serves consistently, making it difficult for the hosts to develop their attack. Resovia maintained the pressure to take the opening set 25-19, then tightened their grip on the match in the second.
Chełm briefly threatened to make the contest more competitive, but Resovia quickly regained control.
Danny Demyanenko proved particularly influential from the service line, while setter Marcin Janusz made good use of his middle blockers to keep the home defence guessing. Artur Szalpuk’s attack sealed the second set 25-17, leaving the hosts with a steep challenge.
There was no comeback in the third. Resovia continued to dictate the tempo, opening up a substantial lead and preventing Chełm from finding any sustained rhythm. The visitors closed out the set with a clean 25-13 to complete a dominant performance and claim their first league victory of the season.
Middle blocker Mateusz Poręba was named MVP after scoring 10 points including 2 aces, 2 blocks and an impressive 86% in attack, while Danny Demyanenko led the winners with 11, and Arthur Szalpuk and opposite Karol Butryn added 10 apiece. For Chełm, Amirhossein Esfandiar finished with eight points and Maciej Muzaj contributed seven, but the home side struggled to match Resovia’s consistency across all three sets.
The result gives Resovia an important early boost after their opening defeat, while Chełm are left without a win after two rounds. Having lost to Stilon Gorzów in five sets in their season opener, the newly promoted side will need to turn competitive moments into more consistent performances if they are to start collecting points.
Tauron Liga will continue on Thursday, October 29, with two advances of Round 3: Energa Indykpol AZS Olsztyn will welcome ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle while, in the evening, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów will back to the court against Energa Trefl Gdańsk.
