After the advance played yesterday, in which Energa Indykpol AZS Olsztyn celebrated their return to Hala Urania in style, defeating NEONET Norwid Częstochowa in straight sets, Round 2 of new 2026/27 Tauron Liga continued today with other two games, delivering contrasting victories for Bogdanka LUK Lublin and Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, with the former overcoming Energa Trefl Gdańsk in straight sets and the latter surviving a dramatic fourth-set battle against ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle to secure their first win of the season
Bogdanka LUK Lublin continued their strong start to the campaign with a 3-0 (25:22, 25:22, 25:21) home victory over Energa Trefl Gdańsk.
Wilfredo Leon led the defending champions with 17 points and was named MVP, helping his team record a second consecutive straight-sets win.
Despite the final score, Gdańsk made life difficult for the hosts, particularly in the opening stages. The visitors built a 19-15 lead in the first set, but Lublin fought their way back to level at 20-20 before taking control of the closing points to win 25-22.
The second set followed a similarly tight pattern. With Lublin leading 21-20, an error from Joe Worsley at the service line helped the home side strengthen their position, and the hosts once again closed out the set by the same scoreline. Trefl refused to go quietly in the third, however, recovering from a 13-4 deficit to close the gap to 18-17. Lublin maintained their composure in the closing stages to complete the sweep at 25-21.
The match also brought a worrying moment for the visitors, as middle blocker Moustapha M’Baye injured his ankle after landing from a blocking attempt. Nevertheless, Lublin avoided any further complications and maintained their perfect start to the season.
Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, meanwhile, had to work much harder to secure their first league victory, defeating ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle 3-1 (25:17, 25:22, 22:25, 32:30) in a match that reached its climax in a thrilling fourth set.
After suffering a surprise defeat against GKS Katowice in their season opener, defending champions responded with a strong performance in the first two sets. The hosts controlled the opening period to win 25-17 before edging the second 25-22, putting themselves in a commanding position.
ZAKSA, however, found a way back into the contest. The visitors claimed the third set 25-22, extending the match and putting pressure on Zawiercie to finish the job in four sets.
The fourth set proved to be an extraordinary battle. Zawiercie initially held the advantage, leading 9-6, but ZAKSA fought back and eventually moved in front, creating several opportunities to force a tie-break. The visitors earned four set points, only for Zawiercie to save every one of them and keep their hopes of a straight four-set victory alive. After a prolonged exchange of points beyond the 25-point mark, the hosts finally prevailed 32-30.
Tomasz Fornal was named MVP after scoring 20 points for the winners, while Bartłomiej Bołądź contributed 22 to lead the team’s scoring.
The victory was an important response to their opening-round setback, although the narrow escape in the fourth set underlined how close ZAKSA came to taking the match to a deciding fifth period.
While Lublin continued their winning run with another clean sweep, Zawiercie had to dig deep to get their season back on track. Both teams emerged with valuable victories, but the manner in which they secured them could hardly have been more different.
Round 2 will continue on Friday with other two games: Ślepsk Malow Suwałki will welcome GKS Katowice while, in the evening, Stilon Gorzów will face Jastrzębie Barkom.
