Italy: Perugia close 2024/25 season at 3rd place! Piacenza defeated after more than 2 hours and 30 minutes of play!

After a 3-1 home win in Game 1, Sir Susa Vim Perugia earned a hard-fought 2-3 (25:21, 21:25, 25:21, 17:25, 18:20) win on the field of Gas Sales BluEnergy Piacenza in decisive Game 2 of 2024/25 SuperLega 3rd–4th place best-of-three final, securing their place in the Champions League.
The match was a high-intensity contest marked by several twists and missed opportunities on both sides, with the hosts who had six match points in fifth set, but couldn’t convert, ultimately falling in a tense end. Despite strong performances from Stephen Maar, who left the court with 21 points to his name and Yuri Romanò, who added 19, fatal errors at decisive moments proved costly.
To make the difference was Perugia’s consistent blocking, with 17 points from this element, as well as composed play.
MVP Yuki Ishikawa led the charge with 18 points including three consecutive points in the tie-break, well supported by Wassim Ben Tara and Kamil Semeniuk, who added 16 each. Double digit also for Sebastian Solé, who also contributed with 10.
With this result, Perugia claims the last Champions League ticket, while Piacenza will compete in the 2025/26 CEV Cup.
