Cev Cup: Monza destroy an unrecognisable Tours in final first leg
2 min read
Vero Volley Monza are one step away from a historic trophy in the 2022 CEV Volleyball Cup.
In the first leg of the final, the italian side outplayed an unrecognizable Tours VB in straight sets (25:19, 25:19, 25:22), and in the rematch in France (March 23), taking 2 sets will be enough to win the first European trophy in the clubâs history.
In the most important moments of the match, the team headed by Massimo Eccheli played better, and in third set, in which the guests played better, a block touch very much in question brought down definitely them.
The Czech Donovan DĹžavoronok was the most prolific players among the winners, putting down 18 points, while Georg Grozer also contributed with 15, and MVP of the match is outside spiker, Vlad Davyskiba with 8 winning spikes and 31% positive reception.
Captain Thomas Beretta set up 5 of his team 13 winning blocks, an element which made the difference, as the rivals stopped to 1 (and, above all, they have granted 27 errors, against Monza’s 18).
Next week, Tours must win 3-0 or 3-1 to go all-in in the golden set.

Donavan Dzavoronok, Outside spiker for Vero Volley Monza: “We knew we will have to face a really good team, because Tours during his road to the final knocked-out great teams. It’s one of our best match in this season for sure, but we are not celebrating, because next week there will be another tough match next Wednesday.”
Luciano Palonsky, Outside spiker for Tours VB: “We played really good game in the first set, until 15-15, but after they’ve played amazing with the serve and block: this made the difference. We can do better for sure in attack next match. The reception today was really good for us, that wasn’t the problem. If we do the little things better we can win the next match.”
