GOLDEN EUROPEAN LEAGUE. WHAT HAPPENED IN THE 4TH DAY

In the POOL A, at the Aegon Arena of Bratislava, Slovakia-Belgium is finished 0-3 with the following scores: 23-25, 18-25, 17-25.
Nothing to do for Slovakia, that is already lost the chance to qualify for the Final Four in Karlovy Vary, that was defeat in three sets by the Belgium. Sam Deroo, the captain of Belgium played its first match in this competition and was the top scorer of the match with 17 points and 52% in attack.
The other match of the Pool was Sweden-Estonia, played in the city of Nyköping, in Sweden. The guests headed by Gheorghe Cretu, at his 100th game as an estonian national team head coach, didn’t have any problems in the match and claimed a fast 3-0 win with the following scores: 17-25, 17-25, 20-25. The top player was the estonian Robert Täth with 14 points and 58% in attack.

In the POOL B, with the victory 3-0 against Slovenia (25-22, 25-15, 25-19) Turkey are still unbeaten with 4/4 victories. Baturalp Burak Güngör, of the winning team was the best scorer of the match with 16 points and 58% in attack, and on the other side Jernej Detela claimed 12 points but with only the 25%.
The other match was Ukraine-Netherlands and is finished 2-3 with the following scores 25-22, 17-25, 20-25, 25-23, 10-15. Ukraine controlled the match in the first set and as well as for most of the second one, but the match changed when for the Netherlands start to play Nimir Abdel-Aziz, and he was the top scored of the match with 26 points and an excellent 60% in attack. Ukraine, however, got back on the match in the fourth set with a great Vasyl Tupchii and Yurii Semeniuk, and the all the match was decided at tie break. Oleh Plotnytskyi was the top scorer of Ukraine with 21 points and 55% in attack, following by Yurii Semeniuk (20) and Vasyl Tupchii (16).

At the end, what happened in the Pool C?
In Prague, Czech Republic-Portugal is finished 2-3 and the scores were the following: 25-19, 25-19, 27-29, 21-25, 13-15. Czech Republic started very well, but after leading 2-0 probably lost the concentration and slowed down the rhytmes of the match. The first set was very balanced, the second the Czech Republic took the control of the match from the beginning and won again with the score of 25-19. In the third set the Czech Republic losed two match points, and the match could have ended really 3:0, with probably another mangement of the match. From this, the Portugal was playing better in their game and they (deservedly) won another set, and the match at tie break after a great (well-deserved) comeback. The other match was a tie-break too. Finland-Spain was finished 3-2 with this scores: 25-23, 22-25, 25-20, 21-25, 15-11. In this match both teams showed a balanced game, but with its victory, Finland keep the top position in Pool C. Finland’s wing-spiker Samuli Kaislasalo was the best scorer of the match with 21 points and 45% in attack, 19 spikes and two aces.
