Italy: summary of Superlega’s round 7!

4 min read

Another victory for Perugia, which have subscribed to the winning philosophy. Leon and Atanasijevic down Modena in four sets, and this victory has singled out Perugia as the only undefeated team so far this season in Superlega.
In the first two sets, the home team controlled the situation on the court, taking a 2-0 lead. Modena only managed to win the third set, because in the fourth they had to surrender and to congratulate Perugia.
Wilfredo Leon was, once again, the top scorer of the match with 25 points, including 5 aces, while Aleksandar Atanasijevic contributed with 21 points, including 4 aces.
On the other side, Tine Urnaut had 17 and Ivan Zaytsev added 15 points. Good performance also for Max Holt, who scored 13 points, but were not enough to beat Perugia.
Tsvetan Sokolov with 17 points and Osmany Juantorena with 15 points have made a new victory of Lube Civitanova, which defeated Sora in straight sets. Dusan Petkovic once again was the top scorer with 19 points, but he didn’t have any help from his teammates, and he played alone.
Hard match for Trento on BCC Castellana’s court. The home team gave a huge resistance, forcing the tie-break! However, Trento won the match 3-2 and left the rival winless, like Siena, so far in the Superlega.
In fact Siena is the other team that didn’t manage to score a victory in these seven rounds. They suffered the 7th defeat in Padova, despite 20 points of Fernado Hernandez. Luigi Randazzo was the top scorer of the match with 22 points.
The usual Stephen Boyer has scored 22 points in a 3-0 win of Verona against Ravenna. It was an important victory for Nikola Grbic’s team, in a very balanced match.
Great victory in comeback for Monza on Milano’s court in the Derby of this round.
Half comeback from Milano, after the Monza victory in the first two sets, but it did not succeed, because at the end to celebrate were the guests, with another good performance of the Iranian player Amir Ghafour, who ended the game with 24 points. Good return of Abdelaziz in Milano’s court: 21 points for him.
Tie-Break also in Latina, which wins against Vibo Valentia despite another great performance of its Moroccan opposite Al Hachdadi: 25 points for him at the end of the match.
