Italy: summary of superlega’s Round 11

3 min read

In Superlega lot of surprises. Defeats Civitanova and Perugia, both away, on the fields of Milan and Padua respectively.
But let’s go in order. After the two advances played Saturday, in which they celebrated Modena and Monza, Sora fails to win on the field of Latina. The game was played with lot up and downs by the two teams, and Sora don’t manage to win the fourth set ended 28-26 in order to play the tie break, and back to home with at least one point. Petkovic played another exceptional match, scoring 29 points, but he was not enough. In the winning side, Ngapeth is the best scorer with 16 points.
Another tie break for Verona, which after defeating Castellana in the recovery of round 4, wins in 5 sets also in Vibo Valentia. If they ask me where one of the best Superlega players plays, and who is the real surprise this season, I would probably answer that he plays for Vibo Valentia. Once again he was the best scorer of the match (and of the round): Al Hachdadi, also this time he scored “only” 37 points! His teammate Kadu added 19, but at the end of the match it was Verona to celebrate, thanks to a good performance by Boyer, author of 29 points, and Solè, who added 23!
As has already been said at the beginning of the article, Padova was one of the surprises of this 11th round. They played a really perfect match, defeating the leaders Perugia in 4 sets, and they deservedly brought home 3 points. Atanasijevic and Leon scored 19 and 18 points, while the top scorer of the winners was Randazzo, despite the injury (good luck for a speedy recovery!) with 16 points, while Torres added 14.
The second surprise of the day brings the signature of Milano, which has demolished Lube Civitanova in straight sets. Milan played a literally perfect match, but Civitanova was not the team we are used to seeing. Nimir Abdelaziz was the best scorer with 14 points, followed by Maar with 13 and Clevenot with 11. In Civitanova’s ghosts, Sokolov is the top scorer with 12 points, while Juantorena added 10.
The curtain of 11th round closes with the victory of Trento in four sets on the Ravenna’s field. Nothing to do for the hosts, despite yet another good performance by Rychlicki, author this time of 20 points. Russell and Kovacevic led Trento to victory, scoring 15 points each.
