Last matches of 2018 were played yesterday in Italy! Defending champions of Perugia survive the match against Verona: the reigning champions Perugia had a very difficult game. Wilfredo Leon with 27 points and Aleksandar Atanasijevic with 22 points were the players who created a comeback against Verona as they were trailing 2-1.
However, after a good display in the last two sets, they won the game and ended the year in a victorious way.
In this fantastic match Verona’s player Matey Kaziyski was the top scorer with 19 points, while Stephen Boyer scored 17 and Sebastian Sole added 15.
This match proved that Verona will be also one team who can fight for the high places in the standings!
Lube Civitanova and Modena have also scored the victories to finish the year in a successful way.
Lube downed Ravenna in straight sets: two Cuban players Juantorena and Leal were the top scorers with 14 points each, while Sokolov contributed with 13.
Modena won against Castellana with the same results, and Giulio Pinali, who has successfully replaced Ivan Zaytsev (out due to an injury for three weeks), scoring 17 points, and was the best scoring display (and deservedly MVP) in this match.
Victory away for Milano, in four sets against Padova: Clevenot led his team to an important victory, scoring 16 points. Not a good match for Padova: really lot of errors.
Monza won against Latina with the same result: after first set, the hosts managed to win an important match for the standings.
Swan Nagapeth was the top scorer of the match with 24 points, however, he wasn’t enough for Latina.
Mvp of the match and top scorer of the winning side was Dzavoronok with 21 points. In this match, Monza’s wing-spiker Iacopo Botto played as Libero!
