The Round 16 of Ligue A was completed yesterday evening.
The leaders of Tours have destroyed Poitiers (without one of their best players, Schops) in straight sets and they earned another point on Rennes, now at -4: the team coached by coach Matijasevic lately seems a bit in trouble and at home against Tourcoing needed 5 sets to win the game.
In this match, Van Der Dries and Baranek scored 27 and 21 points, while Georgiev was author of 6 winning blocks: they were enough to take the victory.
In the derby of the Italian coaches, Bertini’s Nantes triumphed 3-1 in a comeback (after Ropret’s entry instead of Meyer) and Prandi’s Chaumont, which suffered 2/2 defeats.
Michalovic played a very good match: he was the absolut top scorer with 21 points and 49% in attack.
For Chaumont, Ben Tara and Averill scored 14 points each (good performance for the middleblocker, with two aces and four winning blocks).
The positive moment of Narbonne is interrupted abruptly: clear 0-3 defeat at home against Ajaccio. It was a great match for the guests: after an interminable first set, finished 28-30, they were able to conduct a one-way game, managing to win in straight sets without much difficulty. Carle was the top scorer with 18 points.
The absence of the opposite Patry has not stopped Montpellier who defeated 3-0 Cannes (without Ferens).
First set very balanced until a bad error in the video-check: despite the images of a clear touch, the point is assigned to Montpellier, who manages to win the first set 25-20. The second set was played at high levels by both teams: Cannes has wasted several set-ball, with 3 consecutive service-errors on 24-24.
The set is closed by a Mecharov’s attack out, which gives the hosts the ball of 35:33. The third set instead was without story, with Montpellier deservedly winning the match in straight sets, with a really good performance of Thiago Sens and Alves Cabral, authors of 14 points each.
In Cannes, after a match still without points, good performance of the middleblockers: Koncilja, top scorer, has scored 14 points (80% in attack and a winning block), while D’Almeida 13 points, 73% in attack and a winning block.
