#Turkish Cup: the final is Fenerbahce-Galatasaray!
3 min read
In Malatya, the F8 of the Turkish Cup is being played this weekend. What has happened so far?
In the first quarter-final at the Maliye the positive return of Wendt was not enough to win against the BBSK.
In the second quarter-final the Galatasaray of the bomber Venno (today unusually opaque with 38% in attack) respected the prediction against Tokat.
In the other quarter-finals, the Halkbank Ankara started slowly and found itself under 0-1 against Ziraat (on the field Demir in place of Jovovic), but then, led by the Luburic and Sket attacks, has overturned the match and won 3-1, while Fenerbahce won against a more foul (25 errors in the service and 6 in attack against 15 and 3) Arkas Izmir.
In the final will play Fenerbahce and Galatasaray: Galatasaray didnât have any difficulties against Istanbul BBSK beating them in straight sets, while Fenerbahce have managed to dethrone the reigning champions of Halkbank after beating them in four sets, even though they were down by 1-0.
In details, in front of a lot of public (sold out, unusual in Turkey for men’s volleyball, so the choice of venue proved to be a perfect fit), Galatasaray clearly defeated the Istanbul BBSK, in which was not enough to make a large turnover to compensate for the negative performance of Peksen, Toy, Gokgoz and Emet.
In the second semifinal Halkbank Ankara (dominating so far with the Supercup success and the first place in the regular season) has seen one of its seasonal goals fade away by a great comeback from Fenerbahce. The formation of coach Sordyl (his arrival and then that of the Cuban Hidalgo have turned a badly started season with the first-leg closed only to the eighth place) has in fact succeeded in recovering compromising disadvantages both in the 2nd (19:14 and 20:16), both in the 3rd (6:2, 20:17, 25-24) and in the 4th set (22:20 and 24:23). Great performance of Ter Maat, author also of the last point: 24 points with 63% in attack and 4 winning blocks.
