Vero Volley Monza won a big battle against Belogorie Belgorod in the first leg of the 2019 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup finals.
Monza took the advantage of a home court to surpass Russian Belogorie in the match that lasted for 153 minutes and in which the winner was resolved in the tie-break, with following results: 29:27, 22:25, 25:23, 32:34, 15:12.
Monza had two players which scored 27 points: Czech Donovan Džavoronok and Ukrainian Oleh Plotnytskyi. The latter included six winning blocks of team’s 16 in his really good display. Canadian John Gordon Perrin scored 23 points for Belogorie, while Aleksandr Gutsalyuk made five winning blocks.
The rematch is scheduled in Russia for March 27.
