#Austria: Waldviertel defeats Aich/Dob in straight sets and stretch the series 1-3!

Yesterday evening the Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel has deleted the first match ball in this final serie. They won the fourth DenizBank AG VL final duel against the defending champion SK Posojilnica Aich/Dob in a very hot Stadthalle Zwettl 3:0, with these scores 25:22, 25:22, 25:16, shortening the “best of 7 “series to 1:3. The defending champion proved to be a somewhat seasoned team, especially in the crucial moments of the sets, in the first three finals, with more punchy service and more efficiency in attack. The rivals was always close to take a victory, but it failed several times.
Yesterday the story was different: the hosts won the first set, although it was tight again (21:20) and Aich/Dob tried a comeback. In the second set the reigning champions had a better start, but on 7:11 Waldviertel replied, equalized the score on 13:13 first, and then took over again the lead, until 2-0. Final result is clear: Waldviertel closed its first victory in the serie after only 74 minutes!

Some numbers?
Top scorer on the winning side was Lukasz Szarek with 20 points, followed by Dawid Siwczyk with 11 and Lars Bornemann with 8. Mvp of the match, deservedly, was URW’s setter, Pavel Bartoš.
On the other side Max Landfahrer scored 14 points while Matej Kök added 10. Aces 5:2 and winning-blocks 7:4.

A curiosity?
In last season, Aich/Dob had won the final series 4-0.
For Waldviertel this is also the first victory against Aich/Dob in eleven clash (including championship and MEVZA Cup).
The Game 5 will take place on Wednesday at Jufa Arena Bleiburg.
