It was a miracle at Palabarton: Lube’s dramatic comeback to dethrone Perugia and win scudetto!
After first two sets, with a 2:0 advantage, Perugia had everything under control, however, what happened next will be remembered by the Lube fans (and not only) for life.
It was a fantastic game: Perugia had a 2-0 lead and the home fans were preparing for a celebration…
However, the third set showed all weaknesses (and the limits) of Perugia and Lube managed to take the control of the match. Of course, this part of the game gave a huge confidence boost to Lube’s players, that managed to win the third and the fourth set and to tie the score.
In the tie break, which was worth the championship, Lube had a much better start, having even five points of advantage!
The best scorer in Lube was Tsvetan Sokolov with 19 points, while Osmany Juantorena and Simon Robertlandy had 16 points each, and Yoandy Leal contributed with 15 points.
In Perugia, Wilfredo Leon scored 20 points, while Aleksandar Atanasijevic scored 14 and Filippo Lanza 10.
