Velasco gets new job after ending his coaching career

The Italian Volleyball Federation (Fipav) announced that it has reached an agreement with the legendary head coach Julio Velasco to take over the position in the Menโs Volleyball youth sector. The 67-year-old Argentinean expert, who retired at the end of the last season as Modena Volley’s head coach, is appointed the new technical director of an Italian youth Menโs Volleyball sector.
He signed a contract with Fipav for two and a half years and will be officially presented to the media in July.
As a head coach of Italy Menโs national team, Julio Velasco has collected 323 caps between 1989 and 1996. During this time, he won the FIVB World Championship twice, CEV European Championship three times, FIVB World League five times, and FIVB World Cup and FIVB World Grand Champions Cup one time each. To this, Velasco added 35 games at the helm of Italy Womenโs national team from 1997 to 1998.
