1 min read

Czech Republic volleyball team is preparing for Eurovolley 2019. Last weekend, coach Nekola’s team played two preparatory matches with Slovakia. In the first match the Czechs lost against the Slovaks 2-3, partially 22:25, 25:18, 25:23, 23:25, 20:25. The second match was better and they defeated the Slovaks in four sets (25:22, 15:25, 22:25, 21:25). However, the additional set was win by Slovaks 17:15. The coach of the Czech volleyball team Michal Nekola after these two matches eliminated two players: wing-spiker Marek Zmrhal and middle-blocker Jan Pražák.

The European Championship will take place in four countries for the first time in history and 24 teams will fight for title. Recall that Czech Republic did not play the qualifications, as they took 7th place at the last European Championship in Poland, which automatically guaranteed their participation in the next competition. In Pool D, which will be hosted by the Netherlands, they will compete with Ukraine, Estonia, Poland, the Netherlands and Montenegro.

Here are Czech Republic’s 14 players:
Setters: Jakub Janouch (Friedrichshafen), Pavel Bartoš (Waldviertel)
Opposites: Michal Finger (Olympiakos), Jan Hadrava (Olštýn)
Outside hitters: Donovan Džavoronok (Monza), Jan Galabov (Nice), Adam Bartoš (Tours), David Janků (Ostrava).
Middle-blockers: Vladimír Sobotka, Adam Zajíček (Kladno), Oliver Sedláček (Ostrava), Vojtěch Patočka (Karlovarsko).
