The Polish Volleyball Championship titleholders Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle started the new season with a victory.
The team, who did not play the first round, started the title defense campaign by beating MKS Będzin in the 2nd round of the 2019/20 PlusLiga regular season without losing a set: 27:25, 25:21, 28:26). Łukasz Kaczmarek was the top scorer for the team that, a week ago, won the national Super Cup for the first time ever with 14 points.
PGE Skra Bełchatów beat GKS Katowice in a thrilling match by a 3-2 (19:25, 26:24, 22:25, 25:19, 16:14) to record the second victory in as many games. Before the start of the match, the management board of Skra Belchatow honored the players who won medals with national teams this summer: Szalpuk, Kochanowski, Kłos, Łomacz, Huber and Ebadipour. The player who was not in this group but has been winning many medals in previous years with Poland, Mariusz Wlazły, was the top scorer for Skra with 22 points.
Asseco Resovia Rzeszów once again failed to win the match in PlusLiga. They lost at home to newcomers MKS Ślepsk Malow Suwałki in four sets (23:25, 25:17, 25:16, 25:22). Resovia organized a little farewell ceremony for their former player Łukasz Perłowski, who retired at the end of the last season after spending 16 seasons in the jersey of this team. In addition, this was a special match for Ślepsk head coach Andrzej Kowal who commanded Resovia for 14 years (2004-2018) and won three Polish Championship titles with them. Bartłomiej Bołądź highlighted for the winning side with 20 points.
