Italy: Lube fight but beat Latina, Abdel-Aziz delivers 10 aces for Milano in 3-set game, all easy for Modena

2 min read

Cucine Lube Civitanova had to work hard to stay unbeaten in the italian championship. It seems that the result in the recent Super Cup, when they failed to reach the final in front of their own fans on their home court, left mark on the players of Cucine Lube Civitanova in the continuation of the SuperLega Credem Banca regular season. They survived the scare from the visiting side of Top Volley Latina in Round 3 and won in four sets (28:26, 25:15, 23:25, 25:23). Lube head coach De Giorgi made several rotations in the line-up, leaving Simón, Juantorena and Rykhlicki on the bench. And only thanks to the fact that the first two entered the court in the fourth set, Lube managed to break the resistance of Latina and stay on the top of the standings with a 4-0 score. Iranian Amir Ghafour was the top scorer for Lube with 19 points, while the Frenchman Jean Patry scored 26 points for the losing side.

In total, he scored 27 points as his team beat Consar Ravenna on the road in straight sets.
